Let us together accomplish the following mission

  • Opening of Guru Nanak Food Pantry for all needy families of all faith.
  • Weekly Sunday Preventive Health Clinic – Care that includes screenings, check-ups, and patient counseling to prevent illnesses, diseases, or other health problems. – Talk to Volunteer Doctors.
  • Summer Youth Camps to keep children engaged & prepare them to be productive citizens.
  • To promote & participate in local community activities through Interfaith understanding, cooperation & tolerance.
  • Individual Career Counseling to youth empowering them to set and achieve realistic goals.
  • Discussions on good parenting to achieve strong mental health and high self-esteem.
  • To promote the philosophy of Sikhism that all human beings are created equal, regardless of their class, color, creed, race, gender, or religion. Concept of ONE GOD and universal brotherhood of mankind.
  • To organize spiritual congregations (Diwans) and sing the Glory of God together – Meditation and enjoy the bliss of positive vibrations to uplift our souls together and seek the blessings of Waheguru Jee.

Building Expansion Project introduction

  • Currently Gurdwara Sahib was established in June 2012 and is running very well with Guru Jee’s Kirpa.
  • After Building Expansion is materialized Current Darbar Hall shall be utilized as Langar Hall. It is already renovated with all the facilities. All we need immediately is a New Darbar Hall and Hallway/Corridor in between to connect the New Darbar Hall with the current structure to be used as the langar hall.
  • A new/Modern Commercial Kitchen shall be constructed adjoining to the Langar hall – rear location.
  • School Classrooms, Sri Akhandpath Sahib rooms etc (Accessory Requirements) are part of this expansion and are planned to keep in mind the Sikh Maryada requirements.
  • Establishing Guru Nanak Food Pantry that serves the needy is part of the mission.

Need to Expand - Vision - Thinking ahead

  • The location of the Gurdwara Sahib is surrounded by three universities: Southern University, University of New Haven and Yale university and Yale Hospital. Sikh Faith Students at these university do not own vehicles and location is reachable by bus for them and is being utilized by these students to visit Gurdwara Sahib.
  • Location serves greater New Haven County, Connecticut shore area starting from Bridgeport to New London that includes Milford, Orange, Branford, Guilford, Madison, Clinton, Norwich, East Lyme and more.
  • Currently 80 families relate to this Gurdwara Sahib and growing.
  • Facility needed in New Haven area to accommodate larger and special occasions.
  • Current Gurdwara Sahib is established Since June 2012. Planning for the future needs and demands.
  • According to Hamden Town Regulations, Gurdwara Sahib must have its own parking lot (being a place of worship – a Public Place).
  • New Hallway/Corridor wall space shall be utilized to display pictorial Sikh history and literature. 
  • Property image shall be uplifted. The appearance of the entire property would be more inviting.
  • Will accommodate large programs.
